Everything Legendary is a Black owned vegan burger brand based out of DC. They shot to national notoriety a little over 3 months ago after appearing on ABC's hit reality TV business show Shark Tank. Duane “Myko” Cheers, Danita Claytor, and Jumoke Jackson are the team behind the plant-based burger brand. The three pitched their business to Mark Cuban, Lori Grenier, Barbara Corcoran, Daymond John, and Kevin O’Leary on the February 26th episode of Shark Tank.
Everything Legendary founders offered the Sharks a $300,000 investment opportunity in exchange for 10% of her company. They ultimately landed a deal with billionaire investor Mark Cuban (and Dallas Maverick's owner), walking away with a $300,000 investment in exchange for 22% equity. After striking the deal with, Everything Legendary sold $250,000 worth of burgers online within 24 hours of the episode airing. Let me say that a little louder for those in the back.
After appearing on Shark Tank, this vegan burger brand sold a quarter of a million dollars worth of product in one day. And since airing on the show, over $1.5 million in sales. It's safe to say that Mark Cuban made a smart investment.
And the success hasn't stopped there. Starting on May 15, 2021, the Black-owned and operated plant-based burger producer will be sold at 310 Target locations in 13 states. The “meat” brand has reached thousands of households within months. Now even more people will have a chance to get their hands on the plant-based options at a local Target.
And in case you aren't lucky enough to be near one of these locations, you can still get your plant-based fix. Everything Legendary offers online sales and offers free shipping. But keep in mind, all five of the Shark Tank investors called this is the best plant-based burger they’ve ever had. The demand for this brand is through the roof. “Every time we get a shipment in, they sell out within just a couple of days, just because people love the burgers, so so much,” says Brie Boswell, a Manager of Everlasting Life Vegan Restaurant. “As soon as our doors open at 10:00 in the morning, people are coming in asking for the Legendary Burger. It is guaranteed the best vegan burger on this Earth.”
Everything Legendary specializes in plant-based, gluten-free, and soy-free food. Customers will also enjoy a combination of hemp protein, beet extract, potato starch, and coconut oil. The inspiration behind the vegan brand comes from a place we all can identify with. Moms! The founders wanted to appeal to their mothers’ health needs and taste buds. “This is a vegan, flavorful movement that we’re starting right now. And we’re revolutionizing the entire industry,” Myko told Live Kindly.
“We all know that today’s consumers are demanding that their food be nutritious and supercharged with flavor. Our brand delivers. It’s Mom-Approved. And now, it’s also Shark-Sanctioned.”
The business, when founded in 2019, centered on Cheers’ mother. She was diagnosed with lupus 35 years ago. She converted into a strict vegan nearly 30 years ago. Cheers said she recently celebrated her 71st birthday and she attributes it to a healthy diet. “She’s been a big influence,” Myko said. “We make this product which is flavorful. It has the right texture. It’s healthy. It’s the best plant-based burger in the world.”
In addition to Target, the company’s website site also indicates that residents can purchase products at various stores in the D.C. and Baltimore areas. A few stores sell the plant-based items in Frederick County, Maryland, and Fredericksburg, Virginia. They are in hundreds of grocery stores including Giant, Safeway, Acme and Stop & Shop.
The Everything Legendary official Instagram account posted the news of joining Target with the caption, “If you keep going, and NEVER give up, eventually you’ll hit your target.” I'm always one for double entendres.
